Professional Experience
With over 30 years of experience in Christian ministry, "Bernie" Johnson has proven skills in management training, leadership development, group facilitation, team-building, and organizational effectiveness. For 20 years, Bernie served as a senior pastor to Presbyterian congregations in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Minnesota. Before joining RSI, Bernie founded Focal Point Associates, a consulting group providing organizational and leadership assessment in both non profit and for profit organizations. As an RSI consultant, Bernie enjoys helping others succeed in new ministry ventures. He has worked individually and with teams to assist a wide range of clients raise in excess of $300 million. He has led over 35 local churches reach capital goals for growth. While Bernie is a specialist in both local and wide area major gift campaigns, his skills and experience extend to other RSI services including assessment and planning studies, internal organizational audits, and stewardship enhancement initiatives that focus on developing stewardship for the daily ministry and mission of local congregations. Education Bernie attended The College of Wooster and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bethel University, a Master of Divinity degree from Bethel Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Princeton Theological Seminary. Bernie currently resides in Eden Prairie, Minnesota with his wife Patricia and their two grown children, Grant and Emily. He is a member of the Presbytery of the Twin City Area and works with new member development in his local church. Bernie writes a monthly article, "Spiritually Speaking," for the Eden Prairie News.
In his spare time, he enjoys woodworking, playing golf, motorcycling, skiing and photography. Bernie is also an accomplished sailor, preferring the inland waters of Minnesota and the Great Lakes. |
